The Republicans are finally toughening up and going to war over President Bush's judicial nominees. From the Washington Times:
Republicans plan to begin the process today of using their so-called "nuclear option" to end the Democratic filibusters of judicial nominees by changing Senate rules governing how many votes are required to break such blockades...It's about time. As I've said before, this is the only issue that matters. The Democrats must be called out on this and made to pay. They had no problem with arcane procedural manuevers when they were scheming to block these nominees. We'll see how they like such manuevers now. The White House needs to scream loudly and longly about the obstructionism in the Senate that's thwarting the representative will of the people.
...Today marks two years since Mr. Estrada and Judge Owen were nominated by Mr. Bush. The president plans to talk about the problem in a Rose Garden speech today, calling the judicial-nominating process "broken."
